  12. SUBJECT:        The Use of WORM\OPTICAL Devices and New Unformatted 
  13. WORM\OPTICAL Cartridges

  17. Some WORM devices are not recognized at the end the Controller POST due to one 
  18. or more of the following conditions:
  19.  
  20. 1. No Cartridge in the drivebay (required for Caching Controllers).
  21.  
  22. 2. Unformatted Cartridge.
  23.  
  24. 3. Device not recognized by "ASPIKERN.SYS" 'version 1.0' driver.

  27. For items 2 & 3, set the cfg options "AUTOSELECTION TIMEOUT FOR NON_EXISTENT 
  28. DEVICES" to "DISABLED".  By doing this, UT13.EXE and any other SCSI accessible 
  29. program will have access to the device, in order to format it if necessary. 
  30. After formatting has been completed, the system should be POWER-CYCLED in order 
  31. for the drive to be installed as INT13 devices, if so desired.

  33. The current version of UT13.EXE version 1.4 DOES NOT format an optical device, 
  34. However, in the next release of the drivers at the end of this month, this will 
  35. be corrected.
